Overall, it is a treatment well-tolerated by most patients. While a slight discomfort may be felt, its intensity depends on each individual’s sensitivity.
Our state-of-the-art medical laser hair removal equipment features very powerful cooling systems that significantly reduce this discomfort, maintaining the skin’s surface at two degrees to ensure an optimal working temperature. In some specific areas, the application of a topical anesthetic cream may be recommended hours before the treatment.
It is usually not necessary to remove hair between sessions, as the treated area remains hair-free until it is time for the next treatment. If necessary, hair removal is possible as long as a plucking method (such as waxing) is not used. The most suitable option would be shaving in a single direction of hair growth.
It is advisable to attend sessions with visible hair so that treatment progress can be assessed and treatment parameters can be properly adjusted.
The duration of the session depends on the size of the area to be treated; for example, the legs of a person who is 1.50 m tall will differ from someone who is 1.90 m.
Generally, areas such as the underarms, bikini line, brow, face, or fingers may require only 20 minutes. For larger areas, such as full legs + intimate area, the hair removal treatment can last around 80 min.
Apply Aloe Vera for the two or three days after your laser hair removal session.
Do not expose the treated area to the sun for the 15 days following the treatment.
Both types of laser are effective for hair removal, provided we are discussing quality long-pulse equipment and effective skin cooling systems. The Alexandrite laser is more suitable for fine or lightly pigmented hair, provided the skin is not very dark or tanned. In such cases, the Diode laser is more appropriate, as it allows for hair removal on skin with residual tan and on darker skin tones.
After a laser hair removal session, sun exposure is not recommended until at least 2 weeks have passed since the session.
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment, but after the sessions, the skin may feel somewhat more sensitive and occasionally slightly irritated.
For this reason, it is advisable to use a suitable cream with soothing properties for two or three days, and above all, one that provides extra hydration to the skin.
In the 24 hours following the session, we recommend not exposing the skin to heat sources, such as saunas or heated swimming pools, as well as avoiding friction and sweating that can occur during sports activities.
Finally, it is important not to expose the treated area to the sun for 15 days following the treatment.
It will depend on various factors, such as age, sex, the area to be treated, hair type and skin phototype. We could say that the average number of sessions is 6 to 8 to achieve a satisfactory result.
Laser hair removal should not be performed on pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. It is also important to consider if you are taking any photosensitive medication, such as certain antibiotics or acne treatments. In such cases, the session would need to be postponed for the period the Doctor deems appropriate.
Medical laser hair removal uses light energy (pulses of light) to remove unwanted hair. The light energy is absorbed by the hair pigment (melanin) and converted into heat, thereby damaging the hair follicle matrix and preventing it from producing new hair.
It is necessary to have the best equipment so that the energy is directed by the hair color and not by the skin color. The greater the difference between the two colors, the easier it is to remove hair permanently.
Laser hair removal is less effective for hair colors that do not absorb light well: gray, red, blonde, and white. In these cases, we use thermolysis for hair removal.
The laser permanently removes the hair follicle in a high percentage of the treated hair.
A few long-term maintenance sessions are recommended for the small amount of residual hair that may remain, or you may opt for Thermolysis to permanently eliminate all hair. Over the long term, or due to hormonal changes, a new follicle that was dormant during treatment may appear.
