Facial Spider Veins and Telangiectasias
Varicose veins, spider veins and other circulatory disorders in the legs, in addition to their aesthetic consequences, cause discomfort such as heaviness and swelling and may lead to conditions such as phlebitis if not treated in time.
Varicose veins usually do not disappear on their own, but tend to worsen. That is why it is essential to address the problem before it progresses, as it not only affects appearance but also health.
At MEDICINA ESTETICA LAGO we use the most effective and safest procedures to eliminate varicose veins:
Micro-sclerotherapy for varicose veins
Ultrasound-guided microfoam sclerotherapy (Eco-Doppler)
Neodymium-YAG laser sclerotherapy
It is essential that the medication be administered by trained medical personnel with experience in the technique and qualified to select the type of treatment. Together with the patient and depending on each particular case, the number of sessions will be scheduled and, if necessary, vascular Doppler ultrasound will be available for diagnosis and therapeutic support.
Sclerotherapy is a procedure that involves injecting a liquid or foam medication into damaged veins using a very fine needle. Its purpose is to gradually, controllably, and effectively eliminate bothersome spider veins, reticular veins, or abnormally dilated veins, thereby improving the aesthetic and clinical appearance caused by venous circulatory problems.
Not always. If necessary, your doctor will determine if medication is required for you to aid in the repair of vein walls damaged by venous insufficiency or to increase venous tone; sometimes anti-inflammatories may be prescribed if needed. Generally, we only recommend cold creams and graduated compression stockings after the sessions to enhance the scientifically proven benefits of sclerotherapy.
Normally the treated varicose vein undergoes color changes until it disappears within a variable period of time, usually between 6 and 8 weeks. In the initial phases, inflammation may appear in the treated area, which will decrease over time. It is important to wear compression stockings to accelerate the self-absorption process of the sclerosed vein.
It is a well-tolerated procedure. We use micro-needles, which minimize the sensation of the puncture. Some patients experience a slight stinging caused by the sclerosing liquid at the time of administration, which disappears after a few seconds.
With appropriate medical laser hair removal equipment, all skin tones can be safely treated.
However, sun exposure prior to treatment is not recommended. We advise avoiding the sun for 3 weeks before the procedure to ensure the skin is in optimal condition and to achieve maximum efficacy during the sessions.
They are performed in-office and typically last about 20 to 30 minutes. Sessions are usually spaced 7 to 14 days apart. The duration of a session does not depend on the size of the area to be treated or the number of punctures; it is determined by the amount of liquid or foam applied, which typically ranges between 2 and 8 milliliters, depending on the patient’s tolerance, skin reaction, and the size of the varicose veins being treated. The number of sessions also varies depending on the specific type of venous circulatory problem, but usually, 3 to 6 sessions are sufficient.
