Laser hair removal on dark or tanned skin

In these cases, the presence of melanin increases the risk of burns, which is why at Lago Aesthetic Medicine, we use the Soprano laser system and recommend:

  • Dark skin: Perform a patch test to check how the skin reacts to the laser and adjust the device’s power to the patient’s tolerance.
  • Tanned skin: Compare the tan level with other unexposed areas (armpits or groin) and wait at least 15 days since the last sun exposure.

It is important to remember that, even if you have not expressly sunbathed, areas such as arms or neck usually receive solar radiation. After each laser hair removal treatment , SPF 50 protection should be applied, and sun exposure should be avoided for the following 15 days.
