Abdominoplasty, lipectomy or abdominal reduction removes excess skin or abdominal fat resulting from weight fluctuations due to an inadequate diet and lack of exercise, and especially after pregnancy.
During the procedure, it is common to tighten the rectus abdominis muscles, which narrows the waist while reinforcing the abdominal wall. This results in a firmer abdomen and reduces stretch marks, if present.
In patients with only excess skin (often after pregnancy), a mini-abdominoplasty is performed, using a very similar technique but with a less extensive scar and a smaller contour.
It is indicated after pregnancies or significant weight loss.
It removes excess abdominal skin and fat and tightens the abdominal muscles.
A mini tummy tuck is performed when there is only excess skin and leaves a smaller scar.
A firmer abdomen, a more defined waist, and an improved appearance of stretch marks.
