Abdominal Reduction (Lipectomy)
Abdominoplasty, lipectomy or abdominal reduction removes excess skin or abdominal fat resulting from weight fluctuations due to an inadequate diet and lack of exercise, and especially after pregnancy.
During the procedure, it is common to tighten the rectus abdominis muscles, which narrows the waist while reinforcing the abdominal wall. This results in a firmer abdomen and reduces stretch marks, if present.
In patients with only excess skin (often after pregnancy), a mini-abdominoplasty is performed, using a very similar technique but with a less extensive scar and a smaller contour.
