Breast augmentation surgery, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is the most requested procedure in Plastic Surgery. It corrects not only size but also the asymmetry of the mammary glands (the difference in volume between both), which can be congenital or appear after weight loss or pregnancies.
Implants come in different shapes, volumes, and proportions. There are anatomical or “teardrop” shaped implants, which provide a form very similar to that of the natural breast, and round implants. The use of one type or another will depend on which, in the plastic surgeon's opinion, is most suitable for the patient.
Breast augmentation (mammoplasty) surgery is performed through minimal incisions in inconspicuous areas, such as the armpit or around the areolas, so that the scars are practically hidden. General anesthesia is usually used, and the typical duration is one to two hours.
It enhances breast size and corrects potential asymmetries.
Anatomical and round implants, depending on the desired result.
In less visible areas such as the armpit or around the areola.
Between 1 and 2 hours with general anesthesia.
