Dr. Dennys Corteguera Torres
Vascular Diagnostic Unit
The surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, aims to reduce breast size and correct asymmetry in cases of significant differences between one and the other, while ensuring proper areola placement and appropriate diameter.
An excessively large breast volume in relation to the rest of the torso can cause the patient postural problems and back pain due to the weight that must be supported, which should be approached as a health issue as much as, or more than, an aesthetic one.
The technique is based on the resection of mammary gland tissue, fatty tissue and skin, as well as repositioning of the areola and nipple. The final result is breasts with a volume proportionate to the patient's body, with appropriate shape and symmetry.
