Hymenoplasty (hymen reconstruction) is a surgical technique that reconstructs a torn hymen and restores it to its original state, and it is usually performed for both personal and cultural reasons.
The hymen can tear not only when virginity is lost, but also for other reasons such as impacts or excessively heavy menstrual bleeding.
Hymenoplasty surgery is performed on an outpatient basis and takes approximately 1 hour. The procedure leaves virtually imperceptible scars and allows sexual intercourse to be resumed about 4 weeks after the procedure.
