Laser hair removal for the intimate and genital area, where the skin is more delicate and there may be differences in pigmentation, requires highly specialised professionals and medical hair removal equipment to achieve optimal results with the appropriate number of sessions, which should not be greater than in other parts of the body.
Laser hair removal for the intimate and genital area includes areas such as the pubis, the perineum and, in men, also the testicles. In all these sensitive areas, this type of medical laser hair removal can be performed with complete effectiveness and safety, provided you have the appropriate experience and technology.
Our equipment has specific handpieces for such small areas, allowing permanent hair removal with complete precision, removing it only where the patient wishes.
The duration of the session depends on the size of the area to be treated; for example, the legs of a person who is 1.50 m tall will differ from someone who is 1.90 m.
Generally, areas such as the underarms, bikini line, brow, face, or fingers may require only 20 minutes. For larger areas, such as full legs + intimate area, the hair removal treatment can last around 80 min.
It will depend on various factors, such as age, sex, the area to be treated, hair type and skin phototype. We could say that the average number of sessions is 6 to 8 to achieve a satisfactory result.
The laser permanently removes the hair follicle in a high percentage of the treated hair.
A few long-term maintenance sessions are recommended for the small amount of residual hair that may remain, or you may opt for Thermolysis to permanently eliminate all hair. Over the long term, or due to hormonal changes, a new follicle that was dormant during treatment may appear.
Medical laser hair removal uses light energy (pulses of light) to remove unwanted hair. The light energy is absorbed by the hair pigment (melanin) and converted into heat, thereby damaging the hair follicle matrix and preventing it from producing new hair.
It is necessary to have the best equipment so that the energy is directed by the hair color and not by the skin color. The greater the difference between the two colors, the easier it is to remove hair permanently.
Laser hair removal is less effective for hair colors that do not absorb light well: gray, red, blonde, and white. In these cases, we use thermolysis for hair removal.
With appropriate medical laser hair removal equipment, all skin tones can be safely treated.
However, sun exposure prior to treatment is not recommended. We advise avoiding the sun for 3 weeks before the procedure to ensure the skin is in optimal condition and to achieve maximum efficacy during the sessions.
Overall, it is a treatment well-tolerated by most patients. While a slight discomfort may be felt, its intensity depends on each individual’s sensitivity.
Our state-of-the-art medical laser hair removal equipment features very powerful cooling systems that significantly reduce this discomfort, maintaining the skin’s surface at two degrees to ensure an optimal working temperature. In some specific areas, the application of a topical anesthetic cream may be recommended hours before the treatment.
Laser hair removal should not be performed on pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. It is also important to consider if you are taking any photosensitive medication, such as certain antibiotics or acne treatments. In such cases, the session would need to be postponed for the period the Doctor deems appropriate.
Apply Aloe Vera for the two or three days after your laser hair removal session.
Do not expose the treated area to the sun for the 15 days following the treatment.
