WHAT IS IT?

Remove Large Varicose Veins (Microfoam Sclerotherapy)

Microfoam sclerotherapy offers excellent results in the treatment of varicose veins and spider veins up to 5 mm in thickness, and its results are comparable to surgery or endovascular laser. Being in microfoam form, the injected substance remains in contact with the venous wall for a longer period, making it possible to treat larger-diameter varicose veins. Several sessions within a month may be necessary for complete removal of the varicose vein.

Microfoam sclerotherapy does not require anesthesia or hospital admission, and the patient can continue normal activities after treatment.

Frequently asked questions about Remove Large Varicose Veins (Microfoam Sclerotherapy)

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that involves injecting a liquid or foam medication into damaged veins using a very fine needle. Its purpose is to gradually, controllably, and effectively eliminate bothersome spider veins, reticular veins, or abnormally dilated veins, thereby improving the aesthetic and clinical appearance caused by venous circulatory problems.

Normally the treated varicose vein undergoes color changes until it disappears within a variable period of time, usually between 6 and 8 weeks. In the initial phases, inflammation may appear in the treated area, which will decrease over time. It is important to wear compression stockings to accelerate the self-absorption process of the sclerosed vein.

Not always. If necessary, your doctor will determine if medication is required for you to aid in the repair of vein walls damaged by venous insufficiency or to increase venous tone; sometimes anti-inflammatories may be prescribed if needed. Generally, we only recommend cold creams and graduated compression stockings after the sessions to enhance the scientifically proven benefits of sclerotherapy.

It is a well-tolerated procedure. We use micro-needles, which minimize the sensation of the puncture. Some patients experience a slight stinging caused by the sclerosing liquid at the time of administration, which disappears after a few seconds.

It is a treatment for larger varicose veins that acts directly on the vein.
